This is fascinating. I´ve been working in illustration for a couple decades now but i always lacked promotion skills over the web i guess. I thought that blogs were dead and gone and facebook and twitter was all that mattered nowadays but now i can see i was wrong to ditch my own personal blog for which i haven´t posted a single thing for five years or so…but even without posting i noticed today that i have around 25.000 visitors and people keep coming back… i definetely need to start paying atention to my blogs…
Thanks for informative post. Affiliated marketing is a best way to make plenty of money. And the is a lot of other ways to make money like product review and AdSense but for me I like Affiliated programs.

Summit AboutSee All Great Post! You are right; It is good to be everywhere all the time. So far, I am not. And I am depending too much on one client at the moment; as you know. I will take your advice and join some more groups and directories. Thanks again, Ilka
Recommended without reservations. Jon Morrow is the gold standard in this arena, and this post encapsulates that. He consulted with me at the launch of my blog, and these 20 principles feel like evolutions of that great advice. My numbers are nowhere near his (frankly, my subscriber list seems fixed lately), but my experience validates the core of what’s here: it’s all about consulting, leading to products (in my case, a bit of the other way around, via a book that arose from my website/blog). If you can afford Jon (I can’t), go for it… provided you truly are an “expert” in a given field, one that other people will pay to listen to. If you can’t, or aren’t (at least yet), just read everything he’s written, here and elsewhere.
#1: Build an audience. Not only did you provide amazing information and helpful links but most importantly, you related to a wide audience. With that in mind, you maintained a positive outlook for all writers in different levels of their careers. I, personally, am just researching for ideas and ways to get started. Your article was not only helpful, but inspirational as it was honest and relatable.
Thanks for the tips. My blogs are little followed I hope to increase visits . Thank you again Thank you so much for your advice in this post- I look forward to trying out some of the steps and possibly sharing my progress 🙂

Don’t spend a ton of time on this step, you can always change the domain name later. If you already have a domain name, type it in the “i have a domain name” step. Bluehost is generous enough to throw in a FREE domain name for every new hosting account created.
Glad you liked the article. For the first 2 months, I used Google Adsense, and I did make some good money. But with Adsense you have to manage your own ads and it’s not that easy find the right balance between content and adverts. There are some plugins to help you do that but I found they made my website look ugly and full of spammy ads where I didn’t want them. So I ended up placing ads manually in each article.

Solid numbers about blogging incomes are hard to come by. For example, in the US, the Bureau of Labor Statistics lump bloggers in the very broad category of “Writers and Authors” which has a median income of $61,240 per year. It’s not an accurate measure since there are vastly different occupations included in that category. Information from small surveys and anecdotal evidence can also be found online, but much of it is outdated or taken from tiny sample sizes.
