Your posts are so thorough and helpful that I’m finding myself taking detailed notes while reading. Especially for this one, as you describe different sites in which you can submit content and get paid for it. It’s definitely opened more doors for me and given me more ideas on where I should focus my attention as a new freelance writer.

If you want to make big money from freelance writing, though, you’ll need to write for larger online publications so you can market your abilities. One of the best places to write (and one I should probably add to this list) is Medium. You won’t get paid until you can produce incredible content that people want to read, but it’s a great way to start if you don’t have any previously written content samples or know anyone in the industry you’re looking to break into. I hope this helps! If not – feel free to contact me 🙂

joshwjoyce.wordpress.com Yeah, it can be pretty lowly a lot of the time. Indeed is a simple platform and it makes submitting to jobs easy; you upload your resume, set preferences for what type of jobs you are looking for, and the site will email you notifications when positions matching your skills and specifications come up. In most cases, you can apply through Indeed by hitting the “Apply Now” button. The site sends along your resume, and you just wait for the company to contact you if they’re interested. When you go to Indeed.com, you’ll be met with a clean page that just has two bars in which you type in keywords for the type of work you want and the city or zip code you want to work in. You’ll be guided through the process of setting up your resume and preferences from there.

Swoon Reads Still, no matter whether you seek an agency, a freelancer or a full-time worker, you should expect to pay at least a thousand dollars a month -- any less and I'd be dubious of the potential results. For mid- to large-sized businesses, several thousand dollars a month is a minimum. A few years ago, I published this article at Search Engine Watch, which goes into more specifics.

Really helpful post for writing gigs, but don’t you think it’s better to search for blogs directly to write for? Not search for writing gigs on freelance boards, but blogs you would be really excited to work for?

I appreciate the time you took putting this together. I’ve been a part of the oDesk site for about 2 and a half years now, and I know all too well the struggle it is to get good paying work. oDesk is cool, but the foolishness that involves taking tests just so that you seem a little more proficient than the next person has always bugged me. I’ve been using oDesk as a starting point, and then convince my clients to move away so that we work together privately. My international clients hate all the extra fees. I’m really looking forward to trying the sites you mentioned, and once again Thanks for your time.

Your a gem Oni. Thanks for this great list. I will use it for sure as I want to improve my writing jobs. I have spent too much time writing articles for people who don’t want to pay, can’t pay much or just don’t consider that article writing is worth much.
$75-$130 per post About applying to UVOCORP, I must say, stay away from that company. I’ve been working as a Freelance writer ever since online outsourcing came to being. I encountered that company once when I am looking for other academic writing companies. But the experience is just horrible. They will have you started on a couple of assignments, and approve them right on the spot, but don’t get too excited. Once they see that you already has a few dollars on your earnings, the support sharks will flood you with multiple revisions with corresponding monetary penalties. The first and second revisions are ok, but after running your work on plagiarism checker hundreds of times and proof-reading for grammar mistakes thousands of time. They will still ask you to revise something and dissolve your earnings through penalties one after another. explaining things will not do you justice either, they wouldn’t even care what you say, they will just send your work for revision and ask for ridiculous changes that were not part of the original instructions.
